St. Alban's Outreach Programs
St. Alban's is involved in many forms of outreach to the community.
We support the Kairos prison ministry, which works to build strong
Christian communities in correctional institutions throughout the
state. St. Alban's collects donations of personal items such as toiletries
to deliver to Sistercare, an organization providing assistance to
battered women and their children. Numerous individuals at St.
Alban's volunteer time, goods and donations to Lexington Interfaith
Community Services (LICS), providing emergency aid to those in
crisis.
Kairos
St. Alban's supports Kairos
weekends at the Broad River correctional institutions. We continuously
need homemade cookies so please continue to bake cookies and leave
them in the freezer in the church kitchen. We are also looking for
volunteers to cook breakfast for the inside team on Friday, Saturday
and Sunday morning during the Kairos weekends. Contact David Moseley to
volunteer.
Habitat for Humanity
St. Alban's is a member of a coalition of Lexington area churches
which have joined together to build Habitat for Humanity homes in
Lexington county. Most recently, we finished construction on a house
in the Town of Lexington in December, 2006. Prior to that, we helped
build a house in the Cayce.
Photos from that project are here. Some of you may remember the Windy Hill subdivision, which
we worked in during the 1998 Blitz Build and on several Saturdays in
1998 and 1999.
Most of our work for housing projects is done on Saturdays. Volunteers are
needed to work morning and afternoon shifts. Morning shift runs from 8:30 -
12:30 and afternoon shift runs from 1:00 - 5:00. We typically work on
such things as framing and roofing, sheetrock and vinyl and
landscaping and "punch lists". You don't have to be
skilled to volunteer, just be willing to learn and have fun! Call or
email Mark FitzMaurice
at 356-0962.
The Habitat office in Columbia is always looking for volunteers to serve
on several committees for a one-year term. Each committee consists of
volunteers and one member of the CSC Habitat Board of Directors.
Orientation sessions will be held for each committee. The meeting
times are scheduled at the convenience of the committee members. If
anyone is interested in volunteering to serve on a committee, please
get in touch with Mark.
Habitat also sells used
building material in their Restore and is always looking for
donations. For more information on the Restore, click here.

Christmas in Lexington County
Christmas in Lexington
County is an opportunity for volunteers to assist a homebound elderly person
in making repairs and improvements to their home that they otherwise
would be unable to afford. We have participated in this project almost
every year since it started. The next project is scheduled for April
2007. Contact Mark FitzMaurice to volunteer.
